well i dont know if they actually said that or its your own conclusions

It is important to note that for this particular sample size of 246 cases, the percentages listed above represent statistically valid figures based on generally accepted statistical reporting guidelines.
without the number of student intake doubling/trembling up to make it one
The number of foreign students has definitely increased since then. The quota is not that
big, so even a small increase like say 10% in the number of foreign students is enough to
swamp the quota.

These numbers are truly historic," says Goli Ameri, assistant secretary of State for educational and cultural affairs. "We haven't just covered lost ground we have now surpassed" previous records.
Plus more than enrollment, it is the economy that governs how soon the quota is reached. In my experience, the economy
showed good growth after 2005, which understandably led to increased hiring.
again i dont know if thats what the anti-immi's complain

The employers will still be paying only the official prevailing wage, which is far
below the real market wage, and it will be business as usual. Again, this is the
loopholes at work, in this case in the legal definition of prevailing wage. Most
employers who are using H-1Bs as cheap labor are doing so FULLY LEGALLY.
The true rate of abuse of the H-1B program is near 100%.
THE FRAUD ISSUE IS IRRELEVANT

For all those who commented in negative.
1. Its posted in Interesting topics section. GC, E2/E3 predictions,H1B extension etc is not the only thing left in life.
2. Spelling is a logical/creative thing. Its not cramming words from dictionary. Its an art too. Ever heard of phonetics.
have a nice day.
Are you quite sure it is a logical creative thing ? There are a lot of words which are pronounced quite differently from the way they are spelled ... unless you know the word ( by cramming ) you would not be able to spell it.
Your point 1 has nothing to do with this topic. Was it ever said that GC is the only thing in life by anyone ?
Obviously this is hard work but to what end. How is knowing the spelling of every word in the planet going to help her or anyone for that matter.
Better be a good writer who writes on interesting topics , stories or novels than to be the proof reader for the writer. Who do you think would have a good career - the writer or the proof reader.
Learning how to spell would have taken thousands and thousands of hours . Wouldn't that time be better spent in learning maths or science or arts or a musical instrument or sports or anything that will help her in the future or be personally gratifying for life. I am not sure she will remember half the words 10 years from now just like a engineer doing java programming for 10-15 years would practically remember nothing he learned in college.

CIR? There is no indication that CIR will happen this year. Why wait for it? It brings up too much anti-immigrant sentiments amongst citizens affected by the recession.
We can just go ahead and support this bill right?
Is there an official stand on this bill from IV core?

These ppl are talking about giving amnesty to ILLEGALS...let me repeat it.. amnesty=award for being ILLEGAL. They have done that before and all of a sudden we F'KIN LEGAL TEMP WORKERS from India/China have to worry about the LEGAL aspect of filing a law-suit.
Something is seriously screwed up with this. This is no different than a pseudo-SLAVERY. Now all of a sudden most of you will say, no one put a gun on your head to work. Ofcourse not, but why hell do they create a dual intent H1FU?K Visa where they show you the carrot and create a indentured servant system and discriminate on the basis of the country of your birth. It is discrimination. Trust me when there was SLAVERY in the US , it was defined LEGAL.
freedom_fighter, your words are very strong but everything you say is a truth.

wa ever suits u..pea brain..
there was nothing in my post to get offended abt...
the book was called Q&A.. how do u end up with a title of SlumDOG..
u jump me.,..just because i call the bluff of fake liberals on this board..
You can't even write a single sentence right and you call me pea brain? "Wa, U, abt, pickel, alcohall" that’s shows me where you stand. Anyhow, I don't give a rat’s ass about what you have with Gvenkat, but don't generalize and write some fucked up nonsense. I fully know who you refer when you say "Curd rice and Pickle" so don’t assume that everyone else is a moron and that you are above everyone.
How the heck you assume that I am fake liberal? What you state and what you accuse others are 2 different things, first go read some books and improve your knowledge and then come here. No wonder you choose Pointless as your screen name!!!

I filed an apeal for my first PERM too and preparing to file another one (through another company - you can't file another PERM via the same company while your first PERM is in appeal). Your's is there for longer than mine. I heard 4 to 6 months would be the time. Please let us know when and how yours is resolved.
Styrum: Why did you file an appeal on your first perm and why are you planning to file another appeal? Maybe I am not understanding something here. was your first LC denied? (on what ground?) why your second LC denied?? Please explain. it seems that we are on the same boat but my appeal have been there longer (now over 6 months)
does anybody here has any idea how long the appeal on the LC decision takes?? any information will be greatly appreciated.

The suggestion for multiple simultaneous rallies didnt get pushed before DC rally as it would have possibly diluted DC rally attendance. But It looks like multiple simultaneous rallies will have an huge impact since
-people can travel to their nearest location so more attendance
-simultaneous local media coverage + more national media coverage
-sum of parts greater than the total.
Possible locations -
West Coast - Bay area & Seattle
Midwest - Chicago?
Southwest - Dallas, Austin or Houston
Northeast - NY?
Southeast - Atlanta?

will be glad to email, but so that all of us are consistent in our request, can you highlight what we are specifically asking for in lame duck session:
Is it SKIL bill, increase in visa numbers, or something else?
While we dont want to sound repetitive, it will help if we are all asking for the same two or three things.
do you think it will be helpful to have a generic draft of the email to send, which can be modified or not by each person sending it?
You can talk about how us competiveness is being affcteted.
quote February 2006 Economic Report of the President on IV homepage
basicall the first paragraph of IV site has info--
"Skilled workers are a small minority of U.S. legal immigrants. Of the 940,000 legal immigrants in 2004, only 16% were skilled employment-based immigrants. About 40% of these skilled immigrants had advanced degrees, or 5 or more years of experience after a baccalaureate degree. The impact of these workers’ contributions to American competitiveness belies their small number. They add to the process of scientific discovery, technology development, and innovation, which in turn leads to greater productivity growth. Greater productivity growth improves the standard of living for the U.S. population as a whole. Skilled immigrants not only contribute to the innovation process themselves, they also help train our own future innovators, thus ensuring the competitiveness of future generations"
You can talk abouty skil bill how it will help us innovation and also talk about retrogression and how 485 filing even if visa numbers are not available and recapture of unused green cards during the past years will help improve the quality of life for high skilled immigrants (engineers, doctors, professors, scientists, teachers etc). some information is here
http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=71&Itemid=36 do not forget to mention IV name for more information.
nycgal369 if you could help draft a format on this thread and everyone could use it (with modification). Your help will be very valuable for everyone.

welcome to the world of retrogression. it is only going to get worse from here on out.
with the deluge of filings in june/july and aug. this year....the retrogression will get worse. USCIS will not make the same mistake again.
I see this prediction every now and then. Why don't you guys get your facts straight. Retrogression will remain the SAME. The pace at which they process GC's is not going to change. It's just applications moved from your home queue to the USCIS queue. Why would that make retrogression worse?? Think before you talk!!

Many here are 'strongly against' those 'horrible' desi or whatever companies after getting an h1b through them. As we know most of the software consultants are here only because those companies could utlize the loopholes in the system. (We all know that this labor certification and such things are nonsense!). It is great to fight for 'legal' things but when you see those who misusd it themselves are 'fighting' for it, makes people feel so funny! We all know that what we all need is GC, whatever be the way, and whatever happens to 'others'. It is legitimate and understandable to fight for 'our cause', otherwise who will fight for us?
[According to me nothing is 'wrong' to be here using any method even being an 'illegal immigant', but fortunately I am here in USA 'legally' and not using 'desi' or such companies]

Good luck finding one that covers you till the end AND is low on premium! The cheapest premiums are that of term insurance, and it is intended for such situations where you have taken measures to invest in other places such as real estate, equities, bonds, cash etc, AND you are not counting on earning any return on the premiums you have paid.
This insurance is plain and simple. You pay low for covering you for a certain period of time - 10, 20, 30 years.
Btw, if one is 35 years old and buys a 30 year term insurance, you are covered until the age of 65. What is your point?
It shows your knowledge about life insurance, go check it out on web for senior citizens quote and why life expectancy is beyond 65 and how to pass wealth to heir

There has been time check used to be payable to:
U.S. Department of Homeland Security - USCIS
Now at some places it is shortened to:
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
And at other places it is shortened to:
USCIS
I think, they are interchangeable.
On USCIS site: Fees should be made payable to Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. refer to first dotted instruction of http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCR D&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD
It does not talk about putting US in front of Department of Homeland Security. Going exactly by USCIS instructions, lawyer did mistake - but it is OK.
