Please contribute to IV so that we can keep this effort going. While everybody is busy collecting documents and paperwork for 485, core IV again is doing their personal paperwork and + lobbying.

I filed my I485/EAD/AP on August 7, 2007. Does this mean that I do not have to pay any fee for EAD renewal now ?
The instructions say this -
Special Instructions :
If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on July 30, 2007, or after, then no fee is required to file a request for employment authorization on Form I-765. You may file the I-765 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-765 at a later date. If you file Form I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of an I-485.

for your kind information, sorry for starting rats comparison here but I came to US about half a dozen years before you. my priority date is 2006 and EB3. also I recognize that there are ppl out there who came earlier than me too. Its very easy to preach 'Life is decided by choices we make', 'your luck/fate, success is decided by your own effort, talent', 'if you have it, ppl will notice it and you will succeed' etc. when you spend the most energetic, productive part of your life in a country, you would expect that country reward you with atleast opportunities to prove your mettle. not to say its immensely painful when ppl who came years and years after you get GC and grow leaps and bounds right in front of your eyes.
P.S. I am not questioning your qualifications or anything.

Why quote some other tracker site, Lets quote figures from tracker on this site. In my opinion that site is anti-immigrants because their business thrives when people's applications are pending, so they would not want the applications to be approved. That's my fundamental difference with them.

FYI -- what is I-9 and what does the employer need to do for that?

It is a very simple form to verify that the employee is legally authorized to work. Every employer/HR department must have one of these for every single employee. Employers who do not deal with immigrants (like your future employer), do not pay attention to it, but they still are required to have this on file. This form is not filed with any agency, it is just on file with the employer and occassionally DOL (or probably DOS, i am not sure) may ask for it, and they have to show it to them. (like your tax documents).
Once you look at this simple form, you will know what it is for.
Good Luck for your future career.

The people who wants to be a part of American Society should first definately be a very open minded towards all cultures and social trends.
Other thing to be Indian or representing Indian traditions is not a crime but certainly every time barking against anything Indian may certainly be a crime as it is a clear indication of closed door or prejudicial mind towards one particular country and culture. Americans do not mind if one shows that he is Indian now and want to become in American future. Although they prefer that AND that is why they label Jindal as Indian-American although he born in USA. If there are majority Indians on IV board, it is not a crime but it is obvious. Some of my chienese friends on IV board may start thread for wishing chienese festival, I bet most Indians on this board will welcome and same goes with Muslim friends on IV board. Starting and wishing EID MUBARAK thread (By the way that is also a Indian tradition..And I am proud of that too) is not a crime and by now if nobody started it does not mean other people may not welcome it. If you are a Muslim, start the thread for EID Mubarak, I will be the first to welcome that step. You want to be American,, right? Then first start learning open mind and start respecting the culture of majority IV memebers first. If you would not start that now how will you settle yourself in cultural pot of the world?
If you are an Indian citizen right now take control over your inferiority complex and get over it because if you do not respect your culture or your tradition what guaranty would be there for Americans that you would respect American traditions in future. Given the constraints of existing legacy case management systems, USCIS would today need to perform a cumbersome, labor intensive, recurring manual audit of all pending files in order to compile the suggested data. Such audits would be cost prohibitive. (page 13)
USCIS has opted not to use its limited financial resources to extract data from current systems and prefers to spend it on prospective systems that are years in the planning. For example, USCIS has not made corrections to the CLAIMS 3 system to capture data on applicants’ priority date information, country of nationality, and the preference category under which the application is filed that USCIS must review before the application is accepted for green card processing. (page 13)
Failing to correct the system annually results in hundreds, if not thousands, of wasted hours by all levels of USCIS leadership in trying to account for an often asked question by Congress, the Ombudsman, stakeholders, and others: “Exactly how many employment-based green card applications does the agency have pending?” USCIS still cannot answer that question today with certainty. (page 13)
