No matter which person we will go with, I think that we need to verify person's story before congress testimony. Not that I do not trust people, but we need to make sure that every detail is accurate; otherwise we risk of being called "liars" by the numbersusa. If we could obtain any documented proof of achievements and demonstrate the documentation to the congress, which will carry some additional weight...

It would make more sense to compare and brainstorm if you can post the skillset you have in mind and the rate you wish for?
I agree that being on EAD or having a GC puts a person in a better situation compared to H1B but the bottom line is the skillset in context, demand for that skillset and expertise that one has in that skillset.
it depends on the skill set and your experience. I accept the fact being on EAD or GC will give advantages. But I dont think GC only make the wonders. you might get 10-20% extra.

I applied for FOIA on my 140/485 petitions and I have got scanned copies of the file. It took more than an year to get the copies.
To my surprise and disappointment, 140 approval notice was not included in the copies they have sent.
Can we get the copy of I-140 Approval Notice under the Freedom Of Independence Act (FOIA)? If so, please advise the way to do it.
My Details are:

Weldonsprings, you might be mistaken about the UAFA bill which is up for a vote on June 3, 2009. The intent of the UAFA is to allow US Citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their foreign-born partners for permanent residency by means of demonstrating a "permanent partnership". I am really shocked to see that several of us in our community are still ignorant about the magnamity of the Green card situation.

I am on H1 and my wife on H4. Can she apply for EAD while I do not ( I would prefer to extend my H1) after we both apply for 485?

there is no employment allowed on H4. Please check with your lawyer as you might have problems with canada stamping
she has never worked on H4. The problem is that she has not worked on H1 either and I am thinking of changing her back to H4 to be safe.

the only 2 choices I see are ask employer to generate paystub and switch to H4 or else leave country and get a brand new H4 on the passport. But was wondering even in this case will they question about previous visa status history or will they just look at my pay stubs so far and grant her a H4. And if doing this in canada is a safe option or not.

I disagree with logiclife. The Dems had already been in line (even before the elections) with Bush's view of comprehensive immigration reform...they were ready for amnesty for the illegals, whereas Bush's own party wasn't. And this was why CIR was derailed in the House. Please remember that CIR is the only avenue by which legal immigration reform will be acceptable to the Senate, esp. Senators like Specter who is currently Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Of course, at this point in time, it remains to be determined as to who will control the Senate, as VA and MT have not been decided yet.
My personal view, from Washington, DC, is that immigration will come up in the new 110th Congress. Our work will be done, but IV will need its members support and attention for a while.

Dude,
I am facing same issue....need to get some money back from India....and there is no way i can get it officially without losing significant part of it. It is really illogical to send money to India for property investment just because we cannot get money back.....I am repenting doing that....
Whenever I ask my friends to do this favor to me.....all they say is they dont have money to send India (since they dont want to disclose their worth to me) or they dont want to send money to India since they know it is useless to send money at such a bad conversion rate.
If you can find some better way, let me know too.
open a nri account here in india with your dad as a second name to it in a bank like hsbc which is there both in india and usa....then you or your dad dcan deposit money in that account...then anybody can withdraw after that. ...Second your dad can gift you a certain amount by converting rs to dollars in india and getting american express travelers check and sending it to you,....

Nothing significant is expected from this speech. Most politicians repeat the same 3 things- Secure our borders, provide path to citizenship to millions and welcome best and the brightest. The real question is when they will do the real work on immigration. There have been some discussions on administrative fixes on immigration. However some of these fixes would politically harm democrats in the upcoming elections.
