The writer could as easily have said "also" or "on an unrelated matter" or many other ways to dissociate "high-skilled" from "illegal", yet he purposefully chose to link the two with the word "but"

reality is, a contraction of US growth of this magnitude was never anticipated...there is strong fear of deflation!
its a do or die situation for immigrants. regardless of the visa status EAD , H1, L1, B1...or Z1.. the only hope of us to get a temp fix which helps the housing/eb crisis..

I am also on EAD and recently booked an house. Just pay 5% down payment and enjoy. I want my Kids to be raised in good neigbourhood and school. If my GC rejected , I will happily go back to India.

That one phrase in your LC requirement could turn out to be a life saver for you. Can you further clarify the educational/experience requirements mentioned in LC. Was it Masters or equivalent with zero experience OR Bachelors with 5 yrs of progressive experience? Your educational evaluation should meet atleast one of the requirements mentioned in the LC. Either Masters or Bachelors + 5 yrs exp. I think for your educational background (non 4 yr BS degree), I feel more comfortable with getting the evaluation done to satisfy the BS + 5 yrs requirement rather than going for Masters equivalent. NSC is known to be strict w.r.t 3 yr BS degree when it comes to EB-2 cases. However, since your initial evaluation showed you as holding a masters equivalent, I am not sure if its a good idea now to try to defend your case with BS + 5 yrs equivalence. A good attorney would be able to guide you through with this. I also suggest you to consult any reputed attorney regarding this and get feedback on your company attorney's plans and not just blindly follow what your company attorney says.

As you may know, many of these category-based immigrant visas have not been issued over the past few years due to backlogs and processing delays at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. H.R. 5882 would help prevent such losses by making available an estimated 218,000 employment-based and family-based green cards that have been unused in past years.
In addition, Congresswoman Lofgren has introduced H.R. 5921, the "High Skilled Per Country Level Elimination Act," to remove the per country limit on employment-based immigrants. You may be aware that U.S. immigration laws limit every country to 7 percent of the worldwide level of U.S. immigrant admissions. This per-country level is established by the U.S. State Department to act as a "barrier against monopolization" and to provide fair opportunities for all skilled and professional workers from around the world. H.R. 5921 would remove per-country limits and would no longer allow unused family- or employment-based visas to be used interchangeably.
Please know that both H.R. 5882 and H.R. 5921 are under review by the House Committee on the Judiciary. However, no companion bills have been introduced in the United States Senate. I went thru TSC-EAC-TSC cycle. I did quite a bit of research online :) and found they did approve those cases, if PD is current. So, that shouldnt be a hurdle. Key is make sure you have all the checks are passed and current.

I got a FP notice for next month. It is certainly not related to AP or EAD renewal, since I don't have any pending AP or EAD renewal. I got my EAD renewed last March and AP in May. So hoping that I got the FP notice since they started looking at my 485 application and something positive will be end result.

There are no bills being discussed. House as well as senate are on recess and will convine after Sept 10th. After it reconvenes, between 10th sept and Oct 8th - it has a lot of tasks at hand, and no apetite for any big and controversial issues like immigration. Mid term elections are in early nov and nobody wants controversial bills debated just before that. Morover it has been made clear that GOP does not want any immigration bills except "fencing the border". Democrats do not have required votes for cloture.
So, nothing is going to happen on the immigration front- legislatively untill after nov elections. Attitudes towards this issue will change and more GOP Lawmakers wil favor talking about this after. It will be a different ball-game depending on who keeps the majority. In the lame-duck there might be a chance.
August/Labor Day Recess
House - August 9 – September 12
Senate August 9 – September 10
Target Adjournment:
House - October 8
Senate - TBD
So, between now and the lame-duck session, if we can educate lawmakers- especially now- since they are comming back home and to their constituents in the recess. Most of them have town-hall meetings arranged and want to hear from their constituents. It will be good to make ourselves visible and heard.

Are there any transfered cases which got approved? I am yet to see one. My service center is TSC but my case starts with WAC as it was sent to Calif for data uploading ...my bad luck...I will be current next month but i doubt any transfered cases will get approved...
just fell thru the cracks....anyway good luck for those who are straight forward cases (if there are any)
