I think flowers comaign is a good idea. But I wanted to know why don't we send letters and emails to Mr.Aytes and USCIS Director and probably HEads of DOS to issue the 182,000 unused visas since 2000 now so USCIS can work on those visas from July to October.
NYTimes article mentioned that DOS officials did not want this years number wasted like the 182,000 visas got unused since 2000.
Can someone come up with a writing so we can all send emails and postals mails with this request.
They need a mandate from the congress to do it, once in the past, during the clinton administration, they got the "GO" to use up unused visas.

The poor response is because we are not together and we truly do not believe in our goal. With the assumption that 90% of IV members are Indians, I can safely say this is innate in our culture - we want to get the benefit without working for it AND once we get the benefit, we give a damn about the rest of "them". :mad:
Just my 2 cents here: Our culture has its place. Being conservative with our money has served us very well today so let us not disparage it. For raising funds from our community we should have more convincing behavior, actions and arguments. Generating trust and goodwill is very important.
To get peoples' trust it is important to be patient and welcome questions and respect others' views, and always answer in best manner possible. Unfortunately there are a few immature elements that spoil the atmosphere here. Maybe we should have some amount of moderation, to cut out the unwanted speeches

You can do it, you have the option to save the documents as pdf. From what I read from other users, sometimes USCIS website hangs and then you can request (by sending an e-mail) for the pdfs to be e-mailed to you. In either case I would recommend to use a PC with printer, it's more convenient.

There are no bills being discussed. House as well as senate are on recess and will convine after Sept 10th. After it reconvenes, between 10th sept and Oct 8th - it has a lot of tasks at hand, and no apetite for any big and controversial issues like immigration. Mid term elections are in early nov and nobody wants controversial bills debated just before that. Morover it has been made clear that GOP does not want any immigration bills except "fencing the border". Democrats do not have required votes for cloture.
So, nothing is going to happen on the immigration front- legislatively untill after nov elections. Attitudes towards this issue will change and more GOP Lawmakers wil favor talking about this after. It will be a different ball-game depending on who keeps the majority. In the lame-duck there might be a chance.

i would really discourage ppl who are not insiders of nebraska uscis or whatever to scare ppl from filing eb2 or converting to eb2 from eb3. how do you know what nebraska is doing?
did not mean to discourage, just be prepared because after the 140 is rejected, you have to start all over again and you lose time in the process. BTW, ask any lawyer, and you will hear the same about Nebraska.
also if you have an MS and are eb-3, by all means transfer to EB-2 with a high rate of success --- again accding to my lawyer.

Well, I like you because you are just a straight shooter. If you are such a straight shooter then let me do some straight talk, so just catch this.
Your American mid-size company or Desi small size or super size company will get $180/hr but you will not get even $50/hr from the same client even when you go direct. So no matter how "highly-skilled" you think you are, your non-compete argument is not good enough for you not to be able directly market yourself, because there are gazillion other companies using BI, Cognos, BO, Informatica, Datastage and every similar crap. You can impress a few people by naming some technologies that maybe hot but they don't mean a &hit if you market them yourself. Here is why. A lot of people blame the lack of GC as a reason to be exploited. That is part of the problem. The other part of the problem is that most hiring managers in large companies get commission from these small, mid-size or large American, Desi or European consulting companies. That's why in most cases they always hire through one of these companies. They will not hire directly because the manager thinks you to be a stingy desi, and if he hires you directly the hiring manager will not see a dime, so why will he hire you directly? This is a big cycle of corruption and everybody is part of it including lawmakers who get contributions from lobbyist/representatives of these small, mid and large size companies. You think lawmakers don't know what is going on? You think client doesn't know that you make 85K when the middle company get $180/hr? You think the big-bosses at the company/client doesn't know that the hiring managers are getting favors from middle companies? You think lawmakers doesn't know that immigrant worker waiting for long delayed GC is bonded to an employer that buys employee retention insurance policy for the employer? They all know it. But you see every player in this movie, you, your hiring boss at the client site, the middle company, the lobbyist, the lawmaker and many more, they are all being paid from that $180/hr which you think that you are entitled for because you know Oracle BI and Congnos. Diversify to more ( but related ) skill.
Add niche like PMP / Six Sigma.
Top of all , little bit of Luck , to be right place at the right time .

I have been thinking for a long time to own a gun but due to my H-1B status could'nt own one. My I-140 was approved last year and now I am working on EAD.
I am wondering if anybody else in a similar situation purchased a gun; I mean after he/she started working using EAD. I tried to research the issue but the law is not clear on the subject.

Guess what only 14 members showed interest ! 14 members strolling down Detroit riverfront in freezing sub-zero temperatures - do you call it a rally?

The reasons could be, taking a day off from work or to far from their place etc..,

We knew that, we are 25K+ members strong and can hold rallies/protests, where we have (major cities) at least 100+ members.
We must invite media and local US leader’s for rally and show our strength and request them to work towards the Green Cards.

Just wanted those sending applications now to know that Nebraska has recently rejected hundreds of (i) EB2 cases with x yrs of experience + BS even when x is 10 and (ii) EB-1 cases even with Ph.Ds (this accding to my lawyer.)
Ph D does not make it EB1 at all. I know fresh CS/EE Ph Ds from good schools in teaching jobs in reasonable schools apply for EB2. I was surprised to know this.
Based on the posts here, it looks like there are no fixed rules. I don't know whether it depends on your lawyer or USCIS or both.

You really cannot ask for more EB3 numbers or 'treat EB-3 fairly'...Laws are made by the congress and they provided certain numbers to each country & category. USCIS has to follow these norms and apply those numbers and USCIS has followed the rule and have applied the allocatd numbers to EB-3. Problem is not that they are treating us differently or we are getting an unfair treatment. The problem we are facing is because we are just too many in number and the problem is Congress didn't make any laws to provide relief to people if one country or a category becomes hugely backlogged...unfortunately, the Last time they did any law for EB immigrats, it was in 1999 or 2000 when they brought AC21. Since then there has been huge surge in immigration but everytime anything immigration related legislation was brought in congress, it has been shot down..In my opinion we can get relief only if congress acts upon it, USCIS is working the way there were tld by the congress

Isnt it a shame that a greencard holder cannot get his wife immediately wheras H1s and others can. They have to be told very loudly. If we get used to this, then yes, there is no problem. I'm very sure immigration debate will come up in 2-3 months or later. Then 500,000 legals are nothing compared to 12 million. So lets make a strong case and educate people.. Thats my only point which some differ with me and dont want to act..
